MURATA WAKWA is a term from the Agikuyu community that translates to "My Friend"
MURATA WAKWA is a limited company that specializes in the making and distribution of muratina based wine.
Founded by two gentlemen, Kenneth Kibby Mocho and Paul Maurice Ogali, who have been friends now for over 21 years, MURATA WAKWA therefore is not only a strong brand name but also the foundation and a symbol of what the power of people coming together means and can achieve.
MURATA WAKWA was launched on the 13th of April 2024 at a vendor space at the Organic Farmers Market on 16 Marula Lane, Karen. The market opens and runs once a week, every Saturday from 8am to 5pm and has since then been the official physical address of the company.
On the 1st of April 2025, MURATA WAKWA was officially registered as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) and after a year of going through it’s teething challenges, the company is now ready and continously gaining more experience on the whole chain of processing the Kigelia Africana, muratina fruit, delivering premium quality muratina based wine right from farm to your exotic dining experiences.

With so much happening in this modern technological world and conscious awakening, we here in our Kenyan huts are feeling it too. With it comes the risk of loosing our traditions and culture especially with the new generation and sometimes, it’s simply because our ancestoral heritage has been marred by false narratives enforced upon our history.
So we at MURATA WAKWA saw a window of opportunity! What if we can make our beautiful ancestoral Muratina drink cool again! A few experiments later of combining it’s original traditional process of brewing and acquired food science knowledge, a new magical portion was conceptualized!
